WELCOME to the official website of the Tripura State Legal Services Authority, the State Level Organisation for Legal Services Constituted under Section-6 of the Legal Services Authorities Act, 1987. It came into being in July,1998 The Office is situated at Akhaura Road, Fire Brigade Chowmuhani, Agartala, Wes Tripura at a distance of 10 kilometers from Airport & 8 kilometers from the Railway Station.
The Hon’ble Chief Justice of the High Court of Tripura is the Patron in Chief and one Judge of the High Court is its Executive Chairman. The Chairman of the High Court Legal Services Committee is distinguished ex-officio member of the State Legal Services Authority. Besides, there are Member Secretary, 8 other Ex-officio Members including (1) Principal Secretary, Finance , (2) Law Secretary, (3) Advocate General,4) Commissioner & Secretary, ICA (5) Commissioner & Secretary, ST,SC,(6) DGP,(7) Chairperson, Tripura Commission for Women,(8) President, High Court Association. & 6 nominated members.
There are High Court Legal Services Committee, 8 District Legal Services Authorities & 14 Sub-Divisional Legal Services Committees to provide Legal Services & undertake programmes as per Annual Action Plan framed by the National Legal Services Authority & State Legal Services Authority.
The Legal Services Institutions are bestowed with power to undertake preventive and strategic Legal Aid Programmes to protect the dignity and basic rights of the weaker and vulnerable sections of society. With a mission to translate the Constitutional mandate of equal justice into action the legal services institutions in the State are sincerely executing the plan of action of the National Legal Services Authority and that of the State Legal Services Authority.
